How to Pack for Your Pup's Boarding

Our dogs are a special part of our family. We love them…and take care of them just like we would do with a member of the family. But, even if they are our furry babies, sometimes we simply cannot take them with us everywhere.

What do we do?

We find the best solution for them to be safe, taken care of, and for us to have the peace of mind that our pups are well and entertained until we get back. One way to do so is by taking them to a dog boarding professional like Coastal Doggie Daycare.

Pack Your Dog’s Bag for an Overnight Trip.

Each dog should have their own bag with important items that they need when they are away from home. Having these items with them can make the transition easier and gives them a sense of safety and comfort. Here’s what to pack for your dog for overnight boarding:

  • Dog Identification: You can have a collar, your phone number, and a microchip. Make sure the facility has your dog’s information updated, along with your contact details. You can even have emergency contact information.

  • Pack Their Favorite Blanket or One of Your Worn T-Shirts: It can be stressful for them too to be in a new environment but having a blanket or something similar that has the household or your scent, will make the dog feel safer.

  • Pack Their Favorite Snacks and Food: Providing your dog with something to keep him busy when she is away.

  • Pack Their Chewable Toys: Here is another way to keep them busy while boarding. They can chew, throw, snuggle, or bite one of their favorite toys. They can focus on that rather than your absence.

  • Pack Any Medicine: If your dog takes any supplements or medicine, they must have it together with the medication plan. Clearly provide the dosage and schedule to the facility so your dog has his proper medicine needed.

  • Whatever Else Makes Your Dog Happy: Pack any item that makes your dog happy. You know your pup better than anyone...so pack it for the stay if it is manageable.

A Fun Stay at Coastal Doggie Daycare

When boarding at Coastal Doggie Daycare, all dogs participate in daycare activities. This gives them plenty of exercise in our 12 outdoor play yards, interaction with other dogs and the loving Daycare Attendants, fresh air, water activities, scheduled lunches, nap times… this makes the time go faster for them.

Each family is different, but Coastal Doggie Daycare has seen many of them. You can also talk to us – we are happy to assist you with what you need to bring.
